A man pleaded guilty to a DUI crash that killed his mother.

37-year-old Chris Lee Francis was recommended a 15-year sentence by a jury for a crash on September 2018. He was intoxicated when his vehicle crashed into a truck head-in. Her mother, 60-year-old Holly Francis, was with him in the car.

The truck driver, a two-year-old, and an infant were injured due to the crash.

Laurel County – ATV Crash Injured Passenger, Led To Driver Arrest

An ATV crash injured a passenger and led to the arrest of the driver.

The incident occurred on Hazel Patch Road, September 29.

The passenger severely injured her hand and had to be airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Meanwhile, the ATV driver, Christopher W. Kirves, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, assault, failure of owner to maintain required insurance and no registration plates.

He is now detained in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Three people were injured after a car crash.

The incident occurred on US-25 and Fariston Road around 4:45 pm.

One of them had to be extricated from the car. Also, that person and the two others had to be airlifted to the hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

Laurel County – Two Adults, Three Children Hospitalized After Car Accident

Three children and two adults were sent to the hospital after a car crash.

The incident happened on US 25, Wednesday afternoon.

A Toyota Corolla driven by 35-year-old Jennifer Haws was hit by a Toyota Avalon by 64-year-old Stanley Woods.

Both of them and three children ages 10, 14, and 16 were all sent to the hospital due to injuries.

Laurel County – Eight Injured After Charter Bus Overturned

Eight people were injured after the charter bus they were on partially overturned on KY 1193.

At 9:22 a.m. Sunday, a charter bus with 21 passengers partially overturned after the driver misjudged his turn. Police had to use a ladder and open a window to evacuate occupants.

Eight people were taken to St. Joseph Hospital London to get their minor injuries treated.

Laurel County – Woman Injured After Avoiding Motorcycle Collision

Around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, a woman was injured after swerving to avoid crashing into a motorcycle on US 25.

73-year-old Anita Peters was driving northbound on US 25 when she avoided an oncoming motorcycle. Consequently, her car rolled over many times before stopping upside down in a ditch.

She was sent to a hospital with many injuries. Her current condition is unknown.

Laurel County – Man Injured After Single Vehicle Crash

On Wednesday morning before 1:30, a car crashed on KY 1223, injuring its driver.

A tractor trailer loaded with wood crashed and overturned off a wooden bridge crossing over CSX railroad. The trailer’s driver was 51-year-old Daniel Lynch, of Clinton Township, Michigan. Furthermore, he was sent to St. Joseph Hospital London. In fact, deputies reported that he is expected to relocate to UK Medical Center for further medical attention.

Moreover, the trailer’s load was dropped onto the train tracks due to the ensuing crash. The debris obstructed train traffic, prompting CSX to halt train movement while the lumber was removed.

This greatly damaged a guard rail and the wooden bridge. Also, it dropped its load onto the train tracks below, obstructing trains.

Laurel County – Two-Truck Crash Injured One, Killed One

Around 3:23 p.m. Friday, a lethal accident took place on Kentucky 80.

A pickup truck was travelling westbound on KY 80 and crossed the center line, colliding with a tractor-trailer head-on. The trailer stopped in the eastbound lane while the pickup stopped at the westbound lane.

London man Gary W. Curry was the tractor-trailer driver. He was sent to St. Joseph Hospital, London for medical attention.

On the other hand, 58-year-old, London man, Douglas N. Hoskins was dead at the scene.
