Metcalfe County— Solo-Car Collision on KY-218

The Kentucky State Police is investigating a single-vehicle collision on Kentucky 218, Monday morning.

At around 10:30, 2005 Nissan passenger car was traveling along the eastbound lanes of KY-218 when, for yet unknown reasons, it crashed into a 2015 Freightliner garbage truck that was parked in the roadway. According to responding officers, the Nissan was not able to slow down while approaching the truck which caused the accident.

The female driver of the passenger car sustained injuries from the impact. She was taken by Barren-Metcalfe EMS to TJ Sampson Community Hospital for further care. Emergency medical crews said that her injuries were deemed non-life threatening.

No other injuries were reported.

Metcalfe County fire and rescue crews arrived at the scene to assist in the investigation.

Lexington—Crashes on Kearney Road Resulted in Injuries

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a car accident on Kearney Road near Georgetown Road, Thursday.

In an unspecified time yesterday, local officers responded to the northern split near Kearney road and Kearney Ridge Boulevard after receiving reports of two collisions. How these crashes took place is yet to be determined by police but it was confirmed that some sustained injuries as a result of the crash.

No identification has been released at this time.

The Georgetown Road was temporarily shut down for clearing.

Local investigators arrived at the scene to gather information about the crash. Investigation is ongoing.

Whitesburg — Michael Fugate ID’d Victim of Kentucky 15 Collision

The Whitesburg Police Department has released the name of the victim who died in a fatal car accident on Kentucky 15 Letcher County.

The fatality was identified as Michael T. Fugate. He was operating one of the vehicle involved in the accident.

According to a report released by Kentucky State Police, Michael Fugate was heading north driving a 1994 Chevrolet Beretta when, for yet unknown reasons, it crossed the center line and drifted onto the opposing lanes. Fugate the crashed into a 2012 Toyota Camry that was heading south.

The impact of the collision killed Fugate in the process. Meanwhile, the driver and passenger of the Camry were taken to a hospital for treatment. Their identifications have not been released at this time.

Toxicology results from both drivers, which are collected during fatal crash investigations, are still pending.

Whitesburg—One Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision on Kentucky 15

A vehicle collision on Kentucky 15 resulted in one death and injuries to two people on Kentucky 15 in Letcher County.

Kentucky State Police officers responded to the northbound lanes of KY 15 after receiving a report of a collision. According to initial reports, a 1994 Chevrolet Beretta traveling north crossed the center line and drifted onto the southbound lanes. The Chevrolet then collided with a 2012 Toyota Camry.

The driver of the Camry and his passenger was rushed to a hospital where the passenger is treated and released. However, the driver was then airlifted to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee, for further care. Authorities said that he was listed in serious condition.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. His identification has not been released at this time.

Crestwood— Bus Driver Charged Following DUI Crash

The Oldham County police department is investigating a DUI collision which involved a bus carrying Crestwood Elementary School students, Friday.

The bus driver was identified as 54-year-old Lesley Harvey. She was operating a school bus with 33 students on board.

According to a news outlet, a school bus was on its usual route when it crashed into a security barrier near a subdivision. An initial investigation indicates that Harvey reported the incident to her immediate supervisor but assured him that there was no damage as a result of the crash.

Emergency crews rushed Harvey to a hospital for a sobriety test which concluded she was impaired at the time of the accident. She was then booked and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, failure to report an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, and 33 counts of wanton endangerment.

Leitchfield — DUI Driver Arrested on Highway 259N

A 56-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Highway 259N, Sunday afternoon, according to a local news source.

Edmonson County sheriff officials said that a Chevy sedan with a missing driver-side mirror was traveling along Highway 259N when it suddenly crossed the yellow line. Officers asked the driver to pull over and performed a field sobriety test on the driver who was identified as 56-year-old Theresa Taymon. After a K-9 gave a positive indication on her car, officials searched Taymon and the car, finding meth.

Authorities arrested Taymon on the scene and booked her into the Hart County Jail. She is charged with Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree, Possession of Controlled Substance, 1st Degree/Methamphetamine, Operating Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Drugs, 1st Offense, and No Rearview Mirror.

Bowling Green— Pedestrian Collision on Scottsville Road Injures 1

A male pedestrian was listed in critical condition after getting struck by a vehicle on Scottsville Road, Saturday night.

According to Bowling Green Police, a Nissan was traveling down Scottsville when it hit a man standing in the road near a left turn lane onto Shive Lane. The female driver of the Nissan told investigators that she tried avoiding the pedestrian by stepping on the brakes but to no avail. The impact of the collision knocked the pedestrian unconscious. He was later taken to Skyline Hospital in Nashville for treatment. Medical crews said that he was listed in serious condition.

Nissan driver was identified as 21-year-old Dakota Holder. She submitted a blood draw to be analyzed.

Police added that the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and was not at an intersection during the time of the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.

Bullitt County– One Dies Following Crash on Kentucky Highway 44

A fatal car accident caused the death of one person on Kentucky Highway 44, Wednesday morning.

According to initial reports, the wreck took place at about 11 a.m near Watergate Drive in Shepherdsville. A Ford Ranger was heading east on the roadway when suddenly it went off the road and struck and guardrail. The vehicle then went airborne and crashed into a utility pole.

The driver of the Ford Ranger was pronounced dead following the collision.

Fortunately, no other injuries were reported as of this writing.

The Bullitt County case investigating team was dispatched to the scene to determine what led the driver to drift onto the shoulder of the road.

Nicholasville – Propane Tank Car Crash on Linden Lane

The Nicholasville Police Department is investigating a car accident on Linden Lane, early Tuesday morning.

At around 2:30 a.m., police officers responded to a wreck on Linden Lane which involved a car and a propane tank. According to initial reports, a car was traveling along the road when, for yet unknown reasons, it crashed into two houses, struck a tank and a shed, before making a complete stop.

The impact of the collision left the home with some damage.

Police said that the driver fled the scene but his vehicle was later located by authorities. The identification of the driver was not released as of this writing.

Mayfield— Child Died Following Interstate 69 Crash

A tragic collision on Interstate 69 caused the death of a child passenger and hospitalized another person last Friday morning.

At around 6:30 a.m., the Graves County police officers were dispatched on I-69 near the 25 mile marker after receiving a report of a single-car collision. According to initial reports, a vehicle was heading south when it failed to negotiate a curve and went out of control. The car then overturned after crashing into a guardrail and concrete divider.

A passenger in the back seat, identified as an 11-year-old child, was rushed to Jackson Purchase Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Another child passenger, identified as a 7-year-old child, also sustained serious injuries. He was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana and listed in stable condition. The driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old Savannah Doom of Wingo, was not hurt.

As per officers, all occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

Graves County local investigators are looking into details about the crash.
