Madison County—Victim of Interstate 75 Crash ID’d

The Madison County Coroner officials have released the name of the victim who died in a fatal car accident on Interstate 75, Wednesday.

The fatality was identified as Randy Houldridge. He was a 61-year-old resident of Maryville, Tenn.

According to initial reports, the tragic collision took place at approximately 8:30 a.m. An unidentified vehicle was traveling along the highway when, for yet unknown reasons, it went off the road near the 84 mile marker. The car then crashed into a rock wall and flipped.

The impact of the collision seriously injured the driver of the car. Emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene.

Local investigators arrived at the scene to determine what led the vehicle to drift from the road.

Investigation is ongoing at this time.

Franklin County— Two Dies Following Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-64

The Franklin County Police Department is investigating a car accident on Interstate 64 which caused the deaths of three people last Monday morning.

At around 9:30 a.m., local responders were dispatched in the westbound lanes of I-64 near mile marker 55. A commercial semi was traveling along the highway when it failed to negotiate its speed as it approached two vehicles, including a truck, that was stopped on a bridge for yet unknown reasons.

The impact of the crash killed the drivers of the truck and car. Meanwhile, the driver of the semi was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. He sustained non-life threatening injuries, as per emergency crews.

No identification has been released as of this writing.

Local authorities have yet to determine why the truck stopped on the bridge but they believed that it may have experienced mechanical issues.

The crash remains under investigation.

Franklin County— Wrong-Way Collision on I-64

A fatal car accident involving a wrong way driver took place on Interstate 64, Wednesday, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said.

According to Franklin County Sheriff’s Officials, local troopers responded to the westbound lanes Interstate 64 between mile markers 58 and 59 after receiving a crash report at around 2:00 p.m. Initial reports said that a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction crashed into two vehicles. The force of impact caused a car to overturned and burst into flames.

The wrong way driver died in the process. His identification was not publicly released pending notification of the next of kin.

Fortunately, no other injuries were reported.

Local police temporarily shut down all lanes for clearing but were reopened a few hours after.

What led the driver to go in the wrong direction remains unknown. Investigation is still ongoing.

McCraken County— Woman Hospitalized Following Clarks River Road Crash

A female passenger to a hospital after getting involved in a two-vehicle collision on Clarks River Road, Tuesday.

At around 6:30 p.m., McCracken County troopers were dispatched on Clarks River Road after receiving a crash report. According to initial reports, a vehicle, driven by 44-year-old Christopher Hurley, was attempting to cross over the said road when it drifted onto the eastbound lanes where it collided with a passing sports utility vehicle driven by 21-year-old Amanda Schaefer.

A passenger in Hurley’s vehicle sustained injuries from the impact. Emergency crews had to transport the victim to a hospital for treatment of her injuries that were considered not incapacitating. She was later identified as 39-year-old Amanda Hurley.

All parties involved in the crash were from Livingston County.

Mercy Regional EMS, the Kentucky State Police and the Reidland-Farley Fire Department also arrived at the scene to assist local deputies at the crash site.

The crash remains under investigation.

Lexington—Speeding Collision on I-64 Injured Three

A fatal vehicle collision on Interstate 64, which involved a speeding driver, sent three people to a hospital, last Saturday.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., local responders received a call from a passing driver reporting a car accident on I-64 near the Bluegrass Station exit. Details surrounding the crash remain unclear at this time but authorities confirmed that a truck struck a sign and landed on its side near the roadway. In their initial investigation, officers believed that one person was ejected from the vehicle due to the impact.

Emergency crews transported three injured victims to a hospital. One of the victim, identified only as a woman, sustained life-threatening injuries. The condition of the two victims has not been confirmed.

Local investigators said that speed may have played a role in the crash.

Lexington—Alumni Drive Crash Leaves Four Injured

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a car accident on Alumni Drive that sent four people to a hospital.

Police officers were dispatched at the intersection of Alumni Drive and New Circle Road at around 7:15 a.m. According to initial reports, a vehicle was traveling along Alumni when it slid on a patch of ice which prompted a collision with a minivan.

The impact of the crash left the female driver of the vehicle with serious injuries. She was rushed to the University of Kentucky hospital for treatment. Her identification has not yet been released.

Meanwhile, three occupants in the minivan, including two children, suffered injuries that were considered non-life threatening. They were also transported to a local hospital.

Investigators temporarily shut down Alumni Drive and New Circle Road for clearing. The crash remains under investigation.

Lexington—Brothers Killed in Harrodsburg Road Crash

A tragic accident involving one vehicle caused the death of Harrodsburg Road, early Sunday morning.

According to initial reports, the fatal accident happened just around 3:40 a.m. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found a Toyota Prius that had crashed into a tree in front of the Southside Technical Center in the 1800 block of Harrodsburg Road. The impact of the collision killed its two occupants, a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old. Authorities said that the victims were brothers.

How the crash exactly took place is yet to be released by Lexington police officers. However, a preliminary investigation shows that speed could be a factor or may have played a role in the crash.
